In Austria the Visit phenomenons
started quite late.
When the national tourist board decided
to create a website,
the domain
Visit Austria.com
was already registered
so they ended up
using
a "new" Tld
that was designed in 2001
for those that had missed to get .com.
.info
was launched with a significant promotion budgets.
It was sucessful at the start
Howether soon other Tlds arrived
and
the ".info fashion" declined.
Today the .info aged badly
It carries outdated branding wibes
and does not signal prestige
Many website have migrated
to .com
or a national ccTLD like .at
.com
the code of the inventors of the Internet
is getting stronger and stronger
Other time several Austrian destinations
missed the opportunity
to
modernise their internet address,
so today their websites look "outdated"
even though content behind the URL
is of good quality .

2015 Private people from Bad Gastein created
Visit Bad Gastein.com
to attract tourrist
to the famous Tourist Resort.
2021 Bregenz was the first DMO
that was able to get the
valuable Visit Bregenz.com domain.
The domain was difficult to get
and the story behind the domain
is interesting
The Bregenz DMO also owns VisitBregenz.at
redirected to VisitBregenz.com
The "Visit Phenomenon" started during
the early years of the Internet
between California, Britain and Paris.
1995
the first Visit Site came alive in California,
soon followed by other destinations where Internet was born.
A global fashion was launched
