Many use or have upgraded their Internet address to a Visit dot com Domain
so it is easier to remembre the web address.

The "Visit Phenomenon" started during the early years of the Internet
1995 the first sites came alive in California
a birthplace of the internet.
1996 followed VisitNewYork.com, VisitQuebec.com
and VisitWashington.com
all registered the same day, 22-04-1996.


A decade after the turn of the century
major DMCs (Destination Management Companies)
started to aquire a Visit Domain to enhance their presentation,
The best examples might be Visit Dubai.com, Visit London.com or VisitStockholm.com
.
Joining the list of web pioneers already using Visit.
These DMC / Travel sites
launched a global fashion.
The fashion to make a place look more beautiful.
Using a good, universably recognizable domain name is part of the project. .

Sadly, still today many DMCs do not understand
that a dot com domain
is a key communication element.
There are even cities where "Tourism"
is only part of a city administation sites.
Tourist information are next to construction permits or parking tickets.



Looking at the Global Visit List you immediately see that countries

You can also see
that others like Germany, Venezuela or Ukraine
