Corsica is a mountainous French island in the western Mediterranean, lying north of Sardinia and west of mainland Italy.
Administered as a single territorial collectivity of France, Corsica rises to 2,706 m at Monte Cinto and is crossed by the demanding GR20 hiking route. Ajaccio, birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte, and the clifftop port of Bonifacio anchor a coast of granite headlands and coves, with the Scandola reserve protecting the wild western shore.
