Tuscany is a region of west-central Italy, centred on Florence and known for its hill towns, vineyards and Renaissance art.
Running from the Apennine mountains down to the Ligurian and Tyrrhenian seas, Tuscany takes in the Arno valley, the farmland of the Val d'Orcia and the Chianti wine country. It was the cradle of the Italian Renaissance and of standard Italian. People come to see Florence's Uffizi Gallery and Duomo, the Leaning Tower of Pisa and medieval Siena.
