About Visit Madeira

The Madeira archipelago rises steeply out of the North Atlantic west of Morocco and forms an autonomous region of Portugal, with Funchal as its capital. Its ancient laurel forest, the Laurisilva, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walkers follow the levadas, irrigation channels turned footpaths, and the islands also give their name to Madeira wine.
